Tunes are taught slowly, by ear. To get the most out of the class you should know the names of the notes on your instrument, and be able to play at least a D major and G major scale and a melody or two.

Maleny Tunes Class students play a range of instruments including flute, whistle, mandolin, fiddle, tenor banjo, guitar and concertina.

The evening starts with a tune being taught at a slow pace suitable for players new to Irish music. At about 7:00pm the pace picks up with the more seasoned players joining the group. We may then learn a new tune at a higher pace or practice previously learned tune sets for dances. Around 8:00pm we pause for a light supper and chat then play some more tunes until hoime time.
